Balancing Fitness and Life

Coming from a chronically busy person, it can be challenging to make time for movement. I understand this feeling and am here to share my favorite hacks to find the energy and intention for a little movement each day.

🤩 Grab a gym buddy

While this is not for everyone, having someone that helps hold you accountable is HUGE. Not only can it raise spirits and create excitement around something challenging, a buddy can also keep you moving on days that you’d rather cozy up on the couch.

🤩 Find an exercise or group fitness class you are excited about!

While even things you love have their hard days, finding a style of class that you enjoy throughout and feel accomplished after is so important to maintaining consistency. Don’t be afraid to try something new, because it may be your new favorite thing - 6am BodyAttack anyone?

🤩 Sleep is KEY

I know this one seems kind of obvious, but it's so important. Sleep helps with muscle growth and recovery, the reduction of stress and anxiety, and helps the mind decompress which tends to be the main things stopping someone from a workout. Sometimes 8 hours of sleep just seems impossible with the busy requirements of life, so incorporating things like red light therapy in your routine can help increase quality of sleep.

🤩 When in doubt, take it slow

At the end of the day, it is imperative that you listen to your body. Sometimes it can feel like you should go all out if you go to the gym, but it is just as important to have intentional movement that is slow and restorative. On these days when exhaustion is high but you want some movement, a YoGLOW class is a go-to. Maybe even Sound Healing Sunday, when you want to exercise and relax your mind to give your body a break. Going on a walk or even some time in the recovery tent to stretch and roll out will make all the difference.

🤩 Fuel your body and your mind

On a busy day, it is one thing to forget to eat enough to keep yourself energized for that cycle class with Ris after your busy day; but keeping your mind active as well helps a lot with chronic exhaustion, so doing things such as reading, learning, or having conversations is great for this!

Finding motivation and energy for the things you love can be a complex ordeal, and these are just a few things that have helped me! You may find your body works in different ways or your mind likes different things, and that is okay.. The most important thing is to take the time to trust yourself and be open to trying new things to help balance your life with your fitness and wellness goals.
